Bryce Canyon

The next day we drove to Bryce. We went on a hike in an area called Queens Court. I have no idea how to describe this. I have never seen any landscape that comes close to being this marvelous, alien and breathtaking. I'll just have to post a shitload of pictures. Remember, you can just click on them to enlarge.

We started up above this awesome canyon and marveled at the fact that we were actually going down into that.

After descending down a lot of switchbacks, the light cast back from the cliff sides turned everything red.

After a while with this we moved into a more open landscape and into the scorching sunlight.

Here we were past several times by a group of japanese teenagers, and everytime we got a cheerful chorus of "Harroh!" which had us weeping on each others shoulders with suppressed mirth. To their apparent great joy, Ivan joined one of their group photos and will be forever remembered by a bunch of weird Japanese kids.

Look at this cute little buddy.

We continued on the Queens Court Trail for about 4 hours and the landscape kept transcending from weird and awesome into sublimely weird and awesome!

We often left the trail to scamper up and down hillsides for even more spectacular views or just to get a little shade. Im so glad we were wearing proper hiking boots or it would probably have ended in shattered ankles.

Shade became increasingly precious and inspired us to many little halts, to catch our breath.

Weird looking landscape with a pretty Mia in it or pretty looking landscape with weird Mia in it?

All right so my tooth is sticking out.

We finally started to climb upwards and back out of the canyon. It was spectacular.

As we moved upwards the trail started to get a bit steep, giving us both a little bit of vertigo.

When we did finally get back up, we felt tired, hungry and completely overwhelmed.

So, a hard but fantastic day in a completely unreal place.
